Hoak`s Restaurant in Hamburg

The location and view outside is awesome, their Fish Sandwich was bad. It is literally two giant pieces of fried fish, a lemon and some tartar sauce on two slices of rye. The other food looked really good, but the fish sandwich was terrible. Great service!

Had a fish fry. The taste was terrible. It tasted like it had baking soda in the batter. To much. Was very disappointed

Food was delicious- coconut shrimp! Clean great outdoors seating.

The patio along beautiful Lake Erie is open. Order ahead & Take out available. Awesome selection of seafood. Fish, shrimp, scallops, clams, Alaskan crab legs. Many choices of beef too. Staff all wear face coverings. Excellent dining.

Worked my way around the outter chicken and had to take the sandwich home. Amazing!

Food was delicious, cooked perfectly. Great view of Lake Erie, especially from the patio seating. Service was great.

quoted 15-20 for pick up but the food ended up taking closer to 45, fish fry batter was extremely salty but fries were good and prices were good. service was also very friendly and attentive!!

This was my first time eating in a restaurant, we were outside on the patio socially distanced well, and although outside was great, we had to walk through a people-crowded small space. This side end burger was great and I think it's mostly because of this amazing bun! The views from outside are nice too.

Little pricey but very good food and patio seating was nice too. The only thing I didn't like was having to walk through a large gathering of people (through the whole restaurant) along the bar to get to/from our table outside. Many w/o masks on!

Decent experience, 3.5 stars in my opinion. Service was decent, food good just a little busy to be comfortable in regards to staff running all over the place. Will try it again.

Great restaurant. Delicious food, i feel like there could be some more "dinner" options. Definitely not a cheap quick meal place unless you just want like a sandwich or fish fry. I feel like they are doing great having just opened back up from covid and what not. We were placed at an awkwardly large table for just 2 people and I did have a seagull jump onto my plate and steal my salad. But they were nice about it and remade it for me without a problem.

We went to eat here after many friends raved about it. Unfortunately our food was not good. The fish was a complete disappointment. The person I was with ordered it and was so hungry that he still ate most of it. He ended up getting sick soon after. I asked for a steak burger and wanted my meat to be cooked medium rare and instead they brought me a super well done burger that was too dry. The fries tasted like they had been seating in a puddle of grease for days. I gave it a two stars bc the prices are not horrible and the waiter was nice. I almost forgot to mention- they sat us in a corner away from everything so we did not enjoy seating outside as much as we expected.

1st time back in a restaurant post Covid. The weather was perfect, the food was good, the waitress was so friendly! Sat on the patio... You can't beat the view!

First time here. All these years I thought it was a seafood place. Just like a local place so kinda surprised but food was real good

Still discrimination close to home. We are a biracial family of 5 and decided to visit this establishment for lunch on the patio. Before entering they have a list of "rules" to abide by on their front door. Examples, eat your food in a timely manner, no changing tables once seated, etc... However, we waited an hour in the scorching 90° heat for our food. Meanwhile 3 other families sat down after us and were served before us. After asking to speak to the manager, the staff was stared at us threw the glass windows. Extremely uncomfortable, unnecessary and unprofessional! Eventually manger came out and offered a lame excuse as to why we hadn't been served. She stated, "The burger my husband ordered takes about 20 min to cook and the health department showed up haulting the food preparation". No explanation as to what happened to the other 40 minutes we waited and why other patrons served. I can only assume the facts that race played a role. Utterly sad and belittling.

Great place on the water!! It was so good to be back and enjoying their delicious food!! Thanks Hoak's Staff for a great get back out experience!! Be back soon!

The water view is incredible- the rest of my group enjoyed their burgers and sandwiches, my salmon however tasted like kerosene. The food arrived quickly, my husbands drink from the bar was good however any of the mixed drinks that I asked for were not available which was disappointing that I ended up just drinking a sweet tea.

Great place to be now that the weather is wonderful. Sit outside eat and drink and watch the sun and water. Friendly people and the food and service is great. Very good menu.

I recalled having gone here years ago, and after my visit this week, I think that I can say that I will not return. Sat upstairs, table and chairs were filthy, server did wipe the table at my request. Couldn’t enjoy the view of the lake from the table as the windowsills next to me were COVERED with dead bugs 🤢 would have liked to walk out without ordering because...imagine what the kitchen looks like...but I was with a group.

Ordered a burger. Took one hour. When I got home, I realized I was actually handed a piece of charcoal between two weck rolls. Tried to call, no answer for half an hour. Just called again, and the person answering the phone must’ve had other things more important, because the moment I said “Hello”, they hung up and it was back to no answers. Overpriced, careless, never going back.

Awesome location and great food! Especially the Buffalo chicken sandwich- yum!

Great view good food. Really had a nice afternoon lunch. Little pricey but was worth it for the atmosphere. Good service
